The 2008 San Antonio 48 Hour Film Experience screening at the Santikos Bijou Theatre.

Tuesday, December 09, 2008

AUDIENCE AWARD VOTING TONIGHT!

Due to technical difficulties beyond our control, the Audience Award will be voted on at this screening only - bring your friends, bring your family, bring the neighbors down the street!

The San Antonio 48 Hour Film Experience free screenings are tonight at the Santikos Bijou Theatre! Forget happy hour, come see San Antonio filmmakers who just made complete films in only 48 hours. Will you see the filmmakers of tomorrow? You be the judge.

Audience voting will take place at the screening tonight, so tell everyone you know.

Meet Jimmy Jo Johnson, the longest-playing football player on his high school team, the Crabs. How about Vladimir, the mysterious exchange student, or Cha Cha, the nightclub performer who gets mixed up in all the wrong things?

And did I mention a sasquatch?

You don't want to miss the 2008 San Antonio 48 Hour Film Experience tonight in widescreen, digital sound, courtesy of the Santikos Bijou Theatre.

Come have dinner and a movie and support local filmmakers. Admittance to the screening is free.

The SA48HR Film Experience is a local, filmmaking challenge event in the tradition of other 48 Hour Film Events, which are two-day intensive filmmaking experiences.

2008 Locations

We are reprising our list of Locations for this year (with only a few modifications).

Teams will draw from the following list of "Generic" locations, and must include this generic location at least once in the film. We also understand the time constraints of this contest - for instance, if teams can't get permission to access a location on the weekend, how about a drive-by shot? Or perhaps the characters can do a walk'n'talk on the sidewalk in front of a particular location. Be creative! And remember, permits generally are not required for filming, unless filming in a City Park - this includes the River Walk and Alamo Plaza. Teams can review the filming policy at Parks on the film commission website. You can also find a "blanket" parks permit to download here. Remember, permits for park filming do not allow the bearer to block or otherwise obstruct the public's access to a park.

Friday Night - See you at Central Library (downtown)

Are you ready? This Friday it all begins. Meet up at the Central Library downtown at 6:30 PM. We'll draw elements (genre, character, line of dialogue, location) for all the teams starting promptly at 7:00 PM, so don't be late!

Be sure to use the far east door, as the main doors will be closed. Here's a map to the Central Library downtown.
